Supervisory Responsibilities One-on-one participant
Budgetary Responsibilities: N/A
This position provides one-on-one or group supervision and counseling to participants who require training and/or ongoing support in community settings (within LCI or on external functions).
Available CAP Technician Position
- Fill-In within the LCI facility. This is an on-call position These hours vary, but they are generally Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and administration of individual personal goal plans.
- Adheres to the minimum required standards of the Division of Mental Health Services.
- Counsels with participant when necessary.
- Works with participant to teach them daily living, social and/or academic skills.
- Responsible for modeling appropriate behaviors.
- Assist the participant in integrating with non-disabled peers while in the community and provide the necessary support to assist the participant in making the transition between home, work, and the community.
- Gives instructions in the proper use of any home or academic related materials.
- Maintains constant supervision to ensure the safety of participant.
- Maintains a professional working relationship with parent/guardian to assure proper quality of duties.
- Counsels participant regarding behavior concerns and recommends appropriate ways to deal with situations.
- Cooperates with the Coordinator in evaluating the performance of assigned participants.
- Assists supervisor in planning the training and ongoing support for the participants.
- Completes all required case notes and documentation as directed by Mental Health, Medicaid, and LCI policies and within set time frames.
- Transports (or arranges transportation) of participant to medical, recreational, and/or vocational settings.
- Works directly with parents/guardians/case managers and must maintain a professional relationship with participant and family members at all times.
- Responsible for daily needs of individual and ensuring goals are addressed.
- Informs supervisor and/or director of department regarding issues and concerns.
- Follows LCI policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate Degree in Human Service field preferred.
- Minimum of one year direct experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Valid NCDL with safe driving record is required.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of individuals with disabilities and must relate to individuals with various disabilities and medical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must be able to represent LCI in a professional manner.
- Must be able to work as a team player and work independently ensuring individual goals are accomplished.
- Ability to understand and follow LCI policies and procedures, as well as mental health procedures.
- Must be flexible and well organized.
- Excellent people skills and the ability to work one-on-one in a structured and non-structured environment.
- Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Ability to treat persons with disabilities with equality and dignity.
- Ability to advocate for the rights of disabled persons as full citizens.
Performance Measurements
Established written goals will be reviewed and discussed during an annual review by the department manager. Performance must be at average or above on this evaluation. The ability to interact in an appropriate manner with participant, guardians, and case managers will be reviewed, as well as the ability to assist participant in meeting their established goals. Skills involving the completion of necessary administrative assignments on a timely basis will be reviewed along with opportunities to promote personal growth for the employee.
